Enterprise Formulary Substitution
This topic is intended for Independent pharmacies only and is not applicable to Rexall pharmacies.
The Enterprise interchangeables can be displayed automatically when a prescription opens in Rx Detail, or viewed manually using Rx > Interchangeables. The Primary and Secondary Enterprise selections will appear in the interchangeables window. Additional interchangeables can be viewed by selecting the View Generics Only and View all Interchangeables options.
When a prescription using a non-Enterprise drug is opened in Rx Detail, Propel Rx asks if you would like to view the Enterprise interchangeables. This prompt only appears if the Enterprise checkbox is selected in Pharmacy Preferences.

To select an Enterprise interchangeable when prompted in Rx Detail:

Process a prescription for a non-Enterprise drug from the Intake window or patient's Profile. In Rx Detail, the Drug Interchangeables window opens.

Select the Enterprise drug that you would like to dispense. The On Hand column displays how much inventory is currently in stock at your pharmacy.

Select Replace. The prescription opens in Rx Detail using the new drug. Selecting Continue will continue processing with the original selected brand.

To select an Enterprise interchangeable on demand in Rx Detail:

With the incomplete prescription displayed in Rx Detail, select Rx > Interchangeables. The Drug Interchangeables window opens.

Select the Enterprise drug you would like to dispense.

Select OK. The drug used in Rx Detail is replaced with the new drug.

If a non-Enterprise drug is selected in the Drug Interchangeables window, the Enterprise Compliance window opens. You must provide a reason for selecting the drug and indicate the user who made this decision.
A similar window appears when you process a prescription for a brand name non-Enterprise drug and select Continue in the Rx Detail prompt. Only the reason would have to be selected in this scenario.

In the Reason dropdown, select an appropriate reason for using the drug.

If you select Pharmacist Professional Judgement as the reason for non-compliance, Pharmacist's Choice automatically populates in the Product Selection field in the Third Party tab.

Optional: enter any comments in the Comments field.

In the User dropdown, select the user that made this decision.

Select OK.

Some patients covered by NIHB may have an Adverse Reaction (ADR) Form on file. If so, it is required that the brand name drug is filled.
To use the brand name drug when billing to NIHB:

In Rx Detail, select RX > Interchangeables. The Drug Interchangeables window appears.

Highlight the interchangeable drug from the list.

Select OK. The Enterprise Compliance window appears.

From the Reason dropdown, select the reason the brand name is being used.
The Prescriber's Judgement reason should not be selected without a valid ADR form on file. Reason code 901 is automatically inserted in the claim when Prescriber's Judgement is used.
If the Out of Stock option was selected, when refilling the prescription a prompt will appear to select the generic. Otherwise, the choice of brand will be retained on future fills.

Select the appropriate option to confirm why the brand name drug is being dispensed.

Select OK. The Rx Detail window appears and the drug has been replaced with the interchangeable selected.
